My Top 5 Guilty Pleasure Movies

When everyone thinks about their guilty pleasure movies they think of so bad they’re good movies. That isn’t necessarily my definition. My guilty pleasure movies that I know aren’t Oscar worthy but deserve more recognition and deserve to be watched by more people or movies that didn’t deserve the tomatoes that were thrown at them. So here are my:

 5: Sugar and Spice

When a teenage jock and cheerleader, Jack and Diane, find themselves expecting a baby they realize they don’t have any money to raise one. So Diane with her other cheerleading friends decide to go and rob a bank to set their family up for life.

When this movie came out I loved it, and though now some of the jokes don’t land anymore, it still a fun silly ride. If you haven’t seen it it can be found on YouTube and Apple +.

4: The Distinguished Gentleman

When con man Thomas Jefferson Johnson finds out how easy it is to become a congressman and make money off of it, he delved right into the world of politics. But he realizes how everyone in charge is conning the people of the United States by not doing anything for them and decides to use his conning mind to change things.

Starring Eddie Murphy, I think this is one of the most underrated movies that he’s done. It’s the first he made after axing his contract with Paramount, and I think not having a backing like that may have done the movie dirty. This movie is so smart and funny, though there are jokes that don’t work anymore (running theme in this list). It is also really poignant even for todays world. If you haven’t seen it there are countless videos on YouTube. Check it out if you haven’t.

3: Johnny Dangerously

Ever wanted Batman to be in a slapstick comedy? Well you got one! Johnny Dangerously follows Johnny Kelly as he goes through 1910 and the 1920s as a gangster.

This movie is so funny. Once again it is a movie where some of the jokes don’t work for today’s sensitive climate, but the ones that do work outweigh the ones that don’t. It was directed by Amy Heckerling who also directed Clueless. There are so many great actors in this including Joe Piscopo and Danny DeVito. If you haven’t seen this you can find it on HBO Max and Hulu.

2: Shrek 3

I don’t care. I don’t care. I don’t care. Shrek 3 is as good as the other Shrek movies. If you can’t snort laugh at “Somebody help! I’ve been kidnapped by a monster whose trying to relate to me!” Or Pinocchio trying not to lie, you don’t have a funny bone. I still is funny and I love it as much as the others.

1: Holmes and Watson

This movie is 20 years too late but it doesn’t matter because it is so much fun. I’ve never seen a movie where everyone but one person in the whole cast said “I haven’t been in anything silly in awhile” and decided to just not take themselves seriously. It is great!

When Sherlock Holmes (Will Ferrell) and John Watson (John C Reilly) lose the case of finding Dr. Moriarty they get a chance to redeem themselves when they get to save Queen Victoria. Its all hijinks and laughs and musical numbers written by Alan Meinken. It is great, silly and funny. The rotten tomatoes critics doesn’t know comedy cause they hated this movie. If you haven’t seen this movie it can be found on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

Well that’s it! Have you seen any of these movies? Did you enjoy them if you did? What’s a movie that would be on your guilty pleasure list? Let me know down below.
